VOUCHER ALERT – Need Calls!

Today, the House Education Committee passed two dangerous bills. We need your help to defeat them.

HB 795 is a voucher bill that uses state funds for non-public school students to attend a virtual school with no accountability. This is what the Legislature banned in 2020 when tightening up the ESA voucher statute in response to numerous abuses cited in a PEER report.

HB 31 is a charter school bill. It allows the Charter School Authorizer Board to develop its own formulafor determining the amount of local funds sent to charter schools from the public school district.

Please ask your representative to VOTE NO on these bills: HB 795 and HB 31

If you have not yet talked to your senator about the dangers of HB 531, which would slash $1.5-billion from General Fund revenue, please make that call, as well.

Ask your senator to protect the teacher pay raise and school funding and VOTE NO on HB 531.

Tomorrow is the deadline for committees to pass legislation that originated within their own chambers. On Wednesday, the House and Senate will begin taking up bills for floor votes, so please make those calls right away. Ask your friends and family to call, too. Our children’s education is worth protecting. And together, we’ve got this!
