Time to Call! Vouchers and MAEP Rewrite May Be Fast Tracked

Grab your cape! Our children need a hero to stand up for their public schools.

The 2018 Legislative Session convened yesterday, and already the privatizers are stalking the hallways of the Capitol, pressuring lawmakers to make a commitment this week about their votes on voucher bills. Please check in with your legislators now and make sure they’re standing with our public schools. Remind them that taxpayers oppose vouchers that use public funds to subsidize tuition at private academies.

Please give your legislators a call, thank them for their service, and ask them to:

• Vote no on any expansion of vouchers (read more here and here)

• Vote no on any change to the school funding law that does not include an objective formula for calculating the base student cost (read more here)

Find contact information for the legislators who represent your school district here.

Share the same message with Lt. Governor Reeves and Speaker Gunn:

Our legislators need to know that we stand by them when they stand up for public schools. Please spread the word and make those calls. Together, we’ve got this!
