The Mississippi Legislature will appropriate CARES Act funds that have been in dispute, per an agreement announced today by Gov. Reeves, Lt. Gov. Hosemann, and Speaker Gunn.
Please join us in thanking our legislative leaders, our senators, and our representatives for standing up for our right to a government with a system of checks and balances run by and for the people.
The Senate has agreed to hold SB 2772 for the time being. Meanwhile, the Legislature will work out a plan to appropriate CARES Act funding expeditiously and in a manner that will provide much-needed relief to Mississippians suffering due to the pandemic. Gov. Reeves will have input.
Both chambers have adjourned until tomorrow morning. The Senate will return at 9 a.m. and the House at 10. You can watch those proceedings here.
