Progress! HB 1489, the anti-teacher, anti-public school bill, was not on the agenda for this afternoon’s House Judiciary B Committee meeting, an indication that your legislators are responding to your concerns. However, the committee has until tomorrow (Tuesday) at 8:00 p.m. to pass this bill, so we must keep the pressure on!
HB 1489 would require crushing amounts of paperwork for educators, subject public school teachers to frivolous lawsuits, and further endanger the thousands of vulnerable children who are safer at school than they are at home. Read the bill here.
If you haven’t yet called committee members about HB 1489, please do so now. If you have called, please call again.
ASK HOUSE JUDICIARY B COMMITTEE MEMBERS TO VOTE NO ON HB 1489.

NEWS ON DANGEROUS VACCINE BILLS
Both the House and Senate Education Committees have been referred multiple dangerous bills that would weaken Mississippi’s strong school immunization requirements and endanger students and teachers. We are hearing that those could be brought up in committee tomorrow.
ASK HOUSE AND SENATE EDUCATION COMMITTEE MEMBERS TO VOTE NO ON ANY BILLS THAT WOULD WEAKEN SCHOOL IMMUNIZATION REQUIREMENTS.

Parents want safe schools, high quality instruction, and top-tier instructional materials devoted to their children’s classrooms. Please ask committee members to oppose bills that threaten the wellbeing of our children and teachers and create massive bureaucratic hurdles for educators. Ask your friends to call, too.
