Wow! What Mississippi’s public school teachers and leaders are doing for our state is remarkable.
School and district accountability ratings are out, and they are impressive! See your school and district ratings here.
There are more A-rated schools (294) and school districts (54) than there are schools and districts with any other letter grade – and a whopping 94% of school districts are rated C or better. Mississippi teachers, we are ever grateful for the life-changing work you are doing to move all Mississippi children to academic proficiency. Your hard work is paying off!
State superintendent Dr. Lance Evans expressed his appreciation for all who are working hard in the statewide quest for academic excellence, saying, “I am incredibly proud of our students, teachers, and school leaders for their academic achievements in the 2023-2024 school year. This year’s school and district grades are a testament to the quality and success of Mississippi public schools. I am confident we will continue to build upon this success to make sure every Mississippi public school graduate is prepared for a successful future.” See how schools are graded.
Today is National Voter Registration Day! One way you can help to protect and strengthen our public schools is to ensure that public education supporters in your community are registered to vote and get to the polls on election day. Please share this voter registration link with others you know and encourage them to register by the October 7 deadline. Mississippi does not offer online voter registration, only mail-in or in-person.
County election officials met to purge voter rolls as part of mandatory voter roll maintenance on September 9, in compliance with state and federal law. We all should check regularly to ensure that our voter registration status is active – particularly those who occasionally skip a primary or general election. Check your voter registration status at this link. Get additional information on voter registration and elections here.
Strong public schools are among the very best investments our state can make. They drive economic development, raise income, and strengthen communities in countless other ways.
Thank you for doing your part by standing with our public school students, teachers, and leaders! Together, we’ve got this!
