Wow! Let’s Keep It Going!

The best return on investment I’ve ever received. That’s how one donor to The Parents’ Campaign described our work to protect and strengthen public schools.

A big chunk of the credit goes to our faithful donors, whose financial support keeps the lights on and our staff on the road, fortifying our network and training and equipping new volunteers. Can you help us continue our fight for strong public schools with a donation today?

We work hard – and smart, focusing our efforts and resources strategically and efficiently, always keeping the main thing the main thing: our goal of excellent public schools for every Mississippi child.

We know that you – the passionate public school supporters who are the magic behind The Parents’ Campaign – are crazy busy with kids’ homework and work and volunteering and all the things that foster strong public schools and vibrant communities. So we do the legwork. We read every education bill; follow the minutia that is the legislative process; generate targeted social media content, op-eds, and communications that resonate; and create tools that make it easy for you to respond effectively to action alerts in one minute or less.

We help our vast network of volunteers – that’s you! – form positive relationships with lawmakers so your views can be considered when critical votes are taken.

And we’ve been intentional about forming our own vital relationships with key policymakers that yield important victories for our children.

It is a partnership that works. With your help in the 2025 Regular Legislative Session, and despite a massive flow of funding from the out-of-state voucher lobby, we managed once again to defeat every single school choice bill – some repeatedly, even as other states fell victim to the destructive, heavily bankrolled privatization agenda that aims to shift public funds to private education. Will you help us keep that momentum going by becoming a sustaining donor? An automated monthly contribution of $10, $20, or $50 would go a long way toward helping us meet our budget goals.

Across these many years, our work together has paid big dividends: billions more in school funding, better access to pre-k, and literacy resources that have helped to catapult Mississippi’s fourth-graders to an incredible ninth-in-the-country ranking in reading scores (and 16th in math)!

Challenges remain. Legislative leaders rammed through a faster-than-intended elimination of the state income tax (which could spell disaster for public schools if we don’t hold their feet to the fire), then adjourned the regular session without adopting a state budget. Mississippi classrooms continue to suffer from a severe teacher shortage, and teachers are overdue for another pay raise. We simply can’t afford to take our eye off the proverbial policy ball, knowing that the voucher lobby is relentless, ready to capitalize on a moment of weakness. We are in the fight for the long haul – a requirement when the opposition is unflagging in its pursuit of public funds for private schools.

We are up to those challenges and more, working every day to grow our network, train new volunteers, and prepare for the next fight. Your contribution of any size will help to ensure that we – and Mississippi children – emerge victorious. The very best way to help is with a sustaining monthly donation that fits your budget. Sustaining contributions help keep us strong for the long run, enabling us to remain focused on our work, undistracted by fundraising.

You can make your donation online or send a check payable to The Parents’ Campaign to 222 North President Street, Suite 102, Jackson, MS 39201.

Our work is infinite and the challenges formidable. But our record is stronger still, and our resolve is unequaled. We. Will. Win. Can you help us? Our children are counting on us, and we are counting on you.

Gratefully,

Nancy Loome
Executive Director
