Watch Ethics Comm. Meeting Virtually Today at 10 a.m.

The Ethics Commission will meet this morning at 10:00 to make a final decision about whether or not the Mississippi House of Representatives should be subject to the Open Meetings Act.

You can watch the meeting virtually here: https://www.ethics.ms.gov/node/53.

In a shocking move last week, the Mississippi Ethics Commission voted that the House of Representatives is not subject to the Open Meetings Act. They are meeting again today to finalize their decision.

Despite Ethics Commission Executive Director Tom Hood’s recommendation to the contrary, five of the eight Commission members allege that the Mississippi House of Representatives is not a public body. The public response has been intensely critical of the majority’s vote. See details and the Commission vote.

Many thanks to all of you who reached out to the Commission to express your dismay.
