Statewide Child Care Resource and Referral System

The Child Care Resource and Referral Network provides parents information to assist them in identifying quality child care programs for their children. It also provides support to early childhood teachers to strengthen their qualifications. The network:

· provides parents information about questions to ask and criteria to look for when assessing programs

· offers teachers of young children information to assist them in providing quality education experiences for their students and in building successful careers for themselves

· establishes a data collection system to maintain information on existing child care programs that choose to register.

The Child Care Resource and Referral Network has been in place since October 2006 and has served 76 counties. The funding requested is needed to move from a network to a system, to increase the number of teachers and parents it serves, and to sustain the program beyond the current grant period.
