Some Bright Spots…

If you know a student who has been unable to complete the AP computer science course due to lack of a computer, that problem could be solved! Code.org, in conjunction with Amazon and the College Board, is providing free laptops to students who need the computers to complete the AP computer science course and national exam. Laptops are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis – and students needn’t return them after the exam. The computers are theirs to keep. Get more information here.

And here’s another terrific opportunity… Join the Mississippi Collective this evening for the second session in its Virtual Happy Hour Speaker Series: Millennial Legislators. Rep. Jeramey Anderson will be this evening’s speaker. He’ll give us the inside scoop about what it’s like to be a millennial serving in the Mississippi Legislature, and then he’ll take your questions. Rep. Kent McCarty was the first speaker in the series, and that event won rave reviews! Sign up here to get a secure ZOOM link for tonight’s session.

And don’t forget to check out our online Resources page for lots of stay-at-home fun, games, and learning activities for the kids – much of which can be accomplished independently, without your help!

Among all the bad news these days are some real bright spots, and our public school teachers and staff are among the very brightest!
