House Votes to Increase Teacher Pay Raise

This afternoon, on a voice vote, the House of Representatives voted in favor of an amendment to increase the amount of the teacher pay raise in SB 2770. The amendment, proposed by Representatives Holland, Hines, and Paden, calls for a $4,000 salary increase for teachers to be phased in over the next two years at $2,000 per year.

The bill was held on a motion to reconsider, which means that the House must revisit the vote on the bill before it can go back to the Senate for concurrence or to invite conference. Friday is the deadline for the House to act on the motion to reconsider.

Please ask your representative to stand strong for a MEANINGFUL teacher/teacher assistant pay raise.
