The U.S. House is advancing legislation to create a broad tax credit voucher system that would force universal private school vouchers into every state in the country, including Mississippi.
The voucher measure, named Qualified Elementary and Secondary Education “Scholarships” (formerly ECCA), would shift millions of public dollars to Mississippi private schools, superseding our own state legislators’ opposition to vouchers. The legislation is moving quickly in the U.S. Congress, so we need your urgent action now. Please reach out right away and urge our members of Congress to vote no on tax credit vouchers.
Please ask your U.S. Congressman and both Senators to oppose the Qualified Elementary and Secondary Education Scholarships (federal tax credit vouchers)

See the letter we’re sending today to Mississippi’s congressional delegation in Washington, urging their strong opposition to the Qualified Elementary and Secondary Education Scholarships (federal tax credit vouchers). Join us in speaking up on vouchers – call right away!
This measure proposes to empower private interests to pick and choose which children in Mississippi get to be educated with federal tax dollars and which should be denied. Imagine a world in which private schools and wealthy voucher backers wield the power of federal funds to decide who in our communities should be educated and who should not – a violation of a central principle on which our nation was founded: an equal opportunity for all.
These vouchers threaten to weaken significantly the viability of our public schools, the lifeblood of our local communities. The terrific work being done in Mississippi’s public schools has won our state numerous accolades and recognition on a national scale in recent months, helping to drive much-needed economic development and progress statewide. All of that will be at risk if large swaths of the public funds our schools rely on are directed to private education.
Please call right away. Then ask two other public school supporters to call, too. Our children and teachers are counting on us, and together, we’ve got this!
