Legislators heard you, and they responded! Every single education bill that we asked legislators to oppose is dead. They all died on today’s deadline without a vote being taken. Apparently, a majority of legislators agreed with us. Your calls made a difference! Please make one more call to thank the legislators who scored a victory for our children today.

Our work is not done. The leadership remains committed to rewriting the education funding law – something we do not oppose, so long as it is done appropriately. There are ways that our funding law can be improved. It could also be changed in ways that would be devastating to public schools. We will continue to fight for a process that ensures a fully vetted funding proposal, with statewide public hearings, and with input from all educators and parents who want to participate. I promise to keep you in the loop.
It is possible that language in bills that died today could be revived during this legislative session (unlikely, but possible). And we still have the education appropriation bill coming later in the session. So, keep watching that inbox! We will remain vigilant, and we will let you know when our children need your help again.
In the meantime – thank you, thank you, thank you! You did amazing work for our kids, and your legislators sided with you. That’s terrific! Please make those calls to thank them – they stood tall for us today. I’m so very thankful to have you – and them – fighting for our children. What a blessing!
