The next 10 days will be among the most critical of this legislative session, and we will need to be on high alert as close to 200 bills come out of conference. We will be watching for the PreK-12 funding bill, with expectations that the Mississippi Student Funding Formula will again be fully funded. We also will be inspecting conference reports on the bills into which the House inserted Children’s Promise Act language – SB 3126, SB 3165, SB 3167 – and watching to ensure that an increase in that funding for private schools isn’t sneaked into conference reports of other bills.
Please reach out to your legislators and let them know that we are relying on them to ensure that our public schools are fully funded and that there is no increase in the public funding flowing to private schools by way of Children’s Promise Act tax credits.
Ask your legislators to
Fully fund the Mississippi Student Funding Formula
and
OPPOSE any increase in Children’s Promise Act private school tax credits in SB 3126, SB 3165, SB 3167 or any other conference report

We have lots of work still ahead of us. But public education has the facts, the overwhelming majority of Mississippians, and supportive lawmakers on its side. Please make those calls, and ask other public school supporters to call, as well. Together, we’ve got this!
