Yesterday, Lt. Gov. Delbert Hosemann announced that Sen. Dennis DeBar of Leakesville will continue to lead the Senate Education Committee and Sen. David Blount of Jackson will return as vice chair. We are grateful for their leadership in the past four years and look forward to the next four! Other members of that committee are Senators Nicole Boyd of Oxford, Hob Bryan of Amory, Scott DeLano of Biloxi, Rod Hickman of Macon, Briggs Hopson of Vicksburg, Michael McLendon of Hernando, Chad McMahan of Guntown, Sollie Norwood of Jackson, John Polk of Hattiesburg, Robin Robinson of Laurel, Sarita Simmons of Cleveland, and Brice Wiggins of Pascagoula.
This morning, House Speaker Jason White announced that Rep. Rob Roberson of Starkville will chair the House Education Committee and Rep. Kent McCarty of Hattiesburg will return as vice chair. Chairman Roberson served as vice chair of Education in a previous term, and we anticipate good things from both committee leaders.
