The Mississippi School Boards Association has announced that 20 Mississippi school districts have been recognized as 2010 Lighthouse School Leaders. This recognition is awarded in three categories to districts that reach the highest levels of student achievement: Beacon Awards, Lantern Awards and Torch Awards.
The Beacon Award recognizes school districts with a QDI of 200 or above that met the growth expectations established by the Mississippi Board of Education.

The Lantern Award recognizes school districts with a QDI of 180 or above that met the growth expectations established by the Mississippi Board of Education.

Booneville School District
Clinton School District
Corinth School District
DeSoto County School District
Gulfport School District
Hancock County School District
Harrison County School District
Kosciusko School District
Lamar County School District
Long Beach School District
Madison County School District
Ocean Springs School District

Pontotoc City School District
Tishomingo County School District
The Torch Award recognizes districts in which 90% or more students are eligible for the free and reduced lunch program and in which at least one school had a QDI of 180 or above and met the growth expectations established by the Mississippi Board of Education.
The 2010 Torch Award recipient is:
Greenwood School District – Bankston Elementary School (a star school)
