The House Select Committee on “Education Freedom” will hold its second meeting on Thursday (September 25) at 10:00 a.m. in Room 113 of the Capitol. The public is invited to attend, though there will not be an opportunity for public comment for those not on the committee agenda. We promise to give you a full report following the meeting.
Your voice is important! Your legislators want to defend your interests, but they are getting immense pressure to side with the voucher lobby on this issue instead of with the folks back home. Legislators need to know that you will have their backs when they stand with their constituents and oppose the dangerous school choice programs that are wreaking havoc in other states, rife with fraud and driving levels of student learning loss similar to those experienced during the pandemic and after Hurricane Katrina.
Thank you to the many, many Mississippians who are standing in the gap for our public schools and the children they serve. Your phone calls, text messages, emails, petitions, resolutions, and visits with your legislators are making a difference. Keep up the great work!
We’ll be at that meeting on Thursday and hope you’ll join us if you can. Regardless, we promise to keep you posted. Our children are counting on us, and together, we’ve got this!
