Have you checked your voter registration lately? Please do so prior to the October 5 deadline to ensure that you are still registered.
We’ve had reports of folks learning they’ve been removed from voter rolls or had their voter registration deactivated – even people who have been registered and voting regularly for many years. Don’t take any chances – check your voter registration online here. If you are no longer registered, contact your county Circuit Clerk’s office to update or correct your voter registration status on or before October 5.
The Secretary of State’s office has announced that Circuit Clerk’s offices, at their discretion, may remain open for extended hours to register voters the week of September 28, beginning today. You will need to call your Circuit Clerk’s office to confirm its participation in the optional expanded schedule. Details:
- Monday – Friday, September 28 – October 2: Circuit Clerk’s offices MAY remain open from 8:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m., including during the noon hour.
- Saturday, October 3: Circuit Clerk’s offices MUST remain open from 8:00 a.m. until noon.
- Monday, October 5: Voter registration DEADLINE. Applicants may register in person in the Circuit Clerk’s office before 5:00 p.m. If registering by mail, the voter registration application must be post-marked no later than this day.
If you will not be able to get to the polls on November 3 (Election Day), you can vote absentee in person at your Circuit Clerk’s office through October 31. Details about this process are at https://www.sos.ms.gov/yall-vote/absentee-voting-information.
One of the best ways to ensure strong public schools is to elect candidates for public office who are committed to public education. Voters in Hinds, Rankin, and Simpson counties can see what legislative candidates in their districts’ November 3 special election have to say about important education issues on our Candidate Q&A website, where their answers to our education survey are posted.
Please help ensure a strong turnout of public education voters in every election by reminding your friends and family that their votes matter. Our children are counting on us, and together, we’ve got this!
