Next Tuesday, March 10, Mississippi voters will head to the polls for the Primary Election to choose who will move forward to the November General Election for the U.S. House and Senate. If you won’t be able to make it to the polls on Tuesday, the deadline to vote absentee in person is this Saturday, March 7, at noon.
Circuit clerks’ offices are open for in-person absentee voting:
- Today – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- Saturday, 8:00 a.m. to noon
One of our most important civic obligations is to exercise our right to vote. We all have seen how the actions of our elected officials affect our teachers, our children, and our public schools. It is important to vote in every election, including federal, because those who do not vote regularly can be placed on inactive voter status and, over time, be purged from the voter rolls.
Here are ways you can help ensure a responsive federal delegation that supports our public schools:
- Ask candidates for U.S. House and Senate where they stand on vouchers, school funding, protections for special education, and support for public schools
- VOTE and be sure other registered voters in your household vote
- Take a friend or two with you to the polls
- Use your social media to remind others to vote
Please help us spread the word and get lots of public school supporters to the polls. Together, we’ve got this!
