Neshoba County School District's state funding for the 2016-2017 school year is $1,276,546 below the amount required by state law. Statewide, the Mississippi Adequate Education Program (MAEP), which funds teachers and classrooms, is underfunded by $172-million.

Since 2008, the last time the MAEP was fully funded, students in the Neshoba County School District have been shorted a total of $13,304,622.
